Well perhaps now is the time to take the plunge and begin the process of taking your pre-license education (3-6 months), passing the required tests and getting in with both feet running. Be prepared to invest upwards of $1,000-1,500 for education, testing fees and licensing fees. Typically Brokers will only agree to invest their time and money in training you if you are willing to show a major commitment (full time) and the drive (long hours and weekends).
Expect to sit in many open houses in hopes of building a future client base by meeting people some of whom are actually actively in the market and not just looking for decorating ideas or busy neighbors. We are gradually seeing an uptick in activity along with the willingness of lenders to consummate a transaction as long as we have a buyer with a good credit score. Locally we see positive daily news of major business expansions or new locations. If some of these potentials can come to fruition, such as major expansions on the Iron Range and the recently announced possible new aircraft expansions in Superior; we will see ancillary businesses also expand and hire new positions. In short, the future looks pretty good for our area so if you have been on the edge of considering a career, now may very well be the time to pull the trigger and make the move.
